Adande Thorne, better known by his YouTube username Swoozie, is a Trinidadian-American YouTuber, scriptwriter, producer, animator, comedian, and actor. Swoozie was born on July 10, 1980, in Diego Martin, Trinidad And Tobago. He is also a professional gamer who competed in Dead or Alive 4 for the Los Angeles Complexity in the Championship Gaming Series. He also featured in the reality series WCG Ultimate Gamer and played a minor role in the film ‘The Space Between Us.’

Education and Early Life:

Swoozie spent his childhood with his sister Njideka until he was five years old. Later his family moved to Florida. He attended his 10th grade in West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida. His friends called him “Swoosh” in school because he preferred Nike clothing, whose logo was the Swoosh. Which eventually ended up his nickname Swoozie and his YouTube username styled as sWooZie. His application to the animation course at Ringling College of Art and Design and California Institute of the Arts was rejected.

Career:

During high school, Swoozie started working in a workshop to support his gaming hobby. Later he was employed at a Disney theme park and as a lifeguard at Hard Rock Hotel. Amid his gaming habits, he found that he was very successful in Dead or Alive 4. So, he took gaming as a profession. He was considered one of the most successful gamers who ever played the game ‘Dead or Alive 4’. As a result, he was offered to play a part in the Championship Gaming Series (CGS) by DirecTV. Later he was drafted by the Los Angeles Complexity team.

Swoozie started uploading Vlogs on YouTube about his life, daily routine, and travel while participating in CGS. A video that he had done with fellow Youtuber Michelle Phan raised his subscriber count. Thorne ran a gaming YouTube channel called “Press Start” with Phan, last active in December 2011. In 2015, Swoozie signed with Creative Artists Agency. Following year he was one of the three people who interviewed President Barack Obama in a YouTube live stream. In 2017, he hosted the shoe design competition web series, Lace Up: The Ultimate Sneaker Challenge. As of April 2021, his YouTube channel “Swoozie” has around 7.4M subscribers.

Swoozie had also played a minor role in the film The Space Between Us.
